The editor window used to enter a new topic has an icon \</\>
which allow me to enter preformatted code. But … the font used in
the editor window does not have a fixed width, which makes it hard to indent
the code samples.

Is it possible to change the font used in the editor window?

This isn’t really answering your question, but you can see a “preview” version on the right that shows code snippets in a monospace font, right?

I assume you’re aware of that, and you want to use a monospace font for the left half as well, right?

Ooh, it looks like discourse themes can have settings:

> Discourse now has the ability for themes to have “settings” that can be added by theme developers to allow site owners to customize themes through UI without having to change any line of code and worry about losing their changes with future updates...

Yes, monospace for the left was what I had in mind.
